What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom-crafted shells of dental-grade ceramic bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. Each veneer is individually designed to match the shape, size, and color of your natural smile, creating a seamless, aesthetically refined result. Because porcelain resists staining and reflects light similarly to natural enamel, veneers produce one of the most natural-looking smile transformations available in modern dentistry.
What Veneers Can Correct
Veneers are an excellent solution for:
- Larger chips and cracks where bonding alone is insufficient
- Severely discolored or stained teeth that whitening cannot correct
- Teeth that are slightly misshapen, too small, or worn down
- Uneven or jagged tooth edges
- Minor spacing issues or slight misalignments that don't require orthodontic treatment
The Veneer Process
Veneer placement typically takes two to three appointments. At the preparation visit, a small amount of enamel (usually less than a millimeter) is removed from the tooth surface to make room for the veneer’s thickness. Impressions are taken, and a temporary veneer is placed while your permanent porcelain restoration is crafted. At the bonding appointment, the veneer is checked for fit and color, then permanently bonded using dental adhesive and cured with a special light.
